What is a Parent Café’? A Parent Café’ is a concept grounded in the research of the Center for Study of Social Policy (CSSP) and has been implemented through the various Strengthening Families Initiatives throughout the nation.
Adapted from the model of a World Café’, Parent Cafés are a series of structured small group conversations designed to bring parents together to discuss issues important to them. The goal is to directly engage parents in building the protective factors needed to prevent maltreatment and promote healthy outcomes for their children (as cited in the literature developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy).
Parent Café’s allow parents to demonstrate their leadership by facilitating discussions. BMG will host its Parent Cafés’ based on demand and requested topics. Once we have obtained five or more requests for a session, we will then notify participants of the anticipated event dates.
Share, learn and fellowship with other parents who are having similar experiences in a safe but relaxing environment. Light refreshments will be served.
